Street Sergei Makeeva (in 1936-1965 - Malaya Dekabrskaya Street , formerly 4th Zvenigorodskaya Street ) - a street in the center of Moscow on Presnya between Mantulinskaya Street and 1905 Street of the Year . On the street are the Vagankovsky cemetery , one of the largest and most famous in Moscow, and the Armenian cemetery . At Vagankovsky cemetery is the Church of the Resurrection of the Word .

Content

Origin of title

It received its modern name on May 6, 1965 (in commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Victory over Hitler Germany) in honor of the Hero of the Soviet Union Sergey Fedorovich Makeev (1909-1944), who lived on this street since 1925. During World War II, commanded a platoon of guards tank brigade. On the outskirts of Kiev burst into the enemy column on a tank. He died in battle. In 1936-1965 - Malaya Dekabrskaya Street; earlier - 4th Zvenigorodskaya street. The name appeared in the 19th century along a nearby road to the ancient Russian city of Zvenigorod (now only 2nd Zvenigorodskaya Street has survived).

Sergei Makeev street starts from Mantulinskaya street , runs north, crosses Shmitovsky passage , Anatoly Zhivov and Kostikov streets adjoin to its right, then crosses Zvenigorod highway , deviates to the north-east and goes along Vagankovsky and Armenian cemeteries to 1905 Goda, where it ends transport interchange opposite Khodynskaya street [1] .
