Title
The historical name of the Finnish village near Lake Berestovoye is Vaalimo ( Fin. Vaalimo ).
After the war, for some time the village was called Nikanovo (in honor of the fallen Soviet warrior Nikanov), then in 1949 it was given the name Berry.
History
The village of Vaalimo was part of the Valkjärvi parish of the Vyborg province .
According to 1990, the village of Yagodnoye was part of the Petrovsky Village Council [2] .
In 1997, 117 people lived in the village, in 2007 - 94 [3] [4] .
Geography
Geographically located next to the ancient moraine ridge Varyamyanselka. Fields and marshy forest separate the village from the Vuoksa River. Lake Berestovoye (2.5 km. Long and 100-200 meters wide) surrounded by pine forests. On the southwest coast are geological outcrops.
The nearest villages are Valkjärvi (“White Lake” - the center of the volost, now Michurinsky ), Kiviniemi (“stone cape” - now Losevo ), Petäjärvi station (“pine lake”) railway. Petersburg - Hiitola, Nurmiyarvi ("meadow lake" - now Borisovo ).
