A Brief History

The building in which the school was located until 1945

Transformed in 1921 into a secondary school from the gymnasium named after Alexander I the Blessed , which existed since 1805 , until the Great Patriotic War, the school occupied the current main building of Yaroslavl University on Red Square . And in the early fifties of the twentieth century, the stop "Red Square" was called the stop "School of Karl Marx."

Since 1931 - “nine year old” with a pedagogical bias, graduates of the school worked as teachers in various schools of the city.

In 1943 , a decree of the Ministry of Education of the RSFSR was issued on the separate education of girls and boys. School number 33 is being transformed into a male one.

On September 1, 1945, the school staff was transferred to the building on Sobinova Street, where the school is now.

Since 1958 , transformed into an 11-year-old school. In 1966 , the school graduated for the last time four 11x classes, and returned again to a ten-year education.

By order No. 118 of the Minister of Education of the RSFSR of May 18, 1971, it was allowed to open grades 9-10 with an in-depth study of mathematics and computer engineering in secondary school No. 33 of the city of Yaroslavl. From the 1971-72 academic year, classes with in-depth study of mathematics were organized at the school.

The school traditionally holds celebrations of major dates in the building of the first theater of Russia - the F.G. Volkov Theater. In Soviet times, the anniversaries of 1921 were celebrated (for example, in 1981 the 60th anniversary of the school was celebrated). Later they began to celebrate the dates from the founding of the gymnasium.

In 2019, it became the Basic School of the Russian Academy of Sciences [1] .

Learning Process

High school, from 8th to 11th, are classes with in-depth study of mathematics (until the end of the 80s, in-depth study was conducted only in grades 9-10). Education in grades 8–9 is largely orientational: the teacher helps the student to realize the degree of his interest in the subject and assess the possibilities of mastering it, so that at the end of grade 9 he can make a conscious choice in favor of either further in-depth or ordinary study of mathematics . Education in grades 10–11 implies that the student has a steady interest in mathematics and the intention to choose a profession related to it after graduation. At this stage, the school provides preparation for entering a university and continuing education.

From the 1998–1999 academic year, the subject “Selected Questions of Mathematics” was included in the curriculum of grade 7 for the purpose of propaedeutics of an in-depth study of this subject. Classes are taught by experienced teachers working in math classes and university teachers.

Most Famous Teachers

“The face of the school” is considered by many to be a school graduate in 1955 , a teacher at the Yaroslavl Polytechnic , and a physics teacher at the school since 1959. L. A. Salov , who is known not only for his strong subject teaching, but also for his original style of teaching.

Prior to his premature death on September 20, 2004 , the strongest teacher of mathematics was the university lecturer I.V. Chui , who had been working at the school since 1974 .

Graduates

The school is known mainly for its graduates entering various universities. Of Moscow universities, they were chosen by the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology , at the turn of the 70-80s. The XX century was the peak of school entrance: every year at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology there were 7 people each, which corresponded to the level of the best five of Moscow schools. Traditionally, physical schools from the 33rd annually held an MIPT field Olympiad in Yaroslavl.

In addition, many graduates studied at other universities in the capital ( Moscow State University , MAI , MISiS , etc.), St. Petersburg, and almost all the remaining students went to universities in Yaroslavl. A graduate of 1981 , Julia Sandina has a rare achievement - she graduated from 3 faculties of Moscow State University (consistently physical, economic, and legal).

School graduates are entrepreneurs Dmitry Agarunov and the Blavatniki brothers, banker Alexander Konanykhin , politician Yevgeny Urlashov , artist Ariadna Sokolova , angiologist Yuri Novikov , hockey player Ivan Nepryaev .

Participation in Olympiads

Individual students of the school won various prizes at the All-Russian and All-Union Olympiads of schoolchildren even before its transformation into a mathematical one. According to data from the school’s museum, in the 60-70s. XX century, Alexander Prudnikov twice received a diploma of I degree at the All-Russian Olympiad of mathematicians, Yusuf Suleymanovich Musabekov was awarded a diploma of I degree at the All-Russian Olympiad of physicists, Mikhail Levin at the All-Union Olympiad in Mathematics was awarded a diploma of I degree.

After the conversion of high school to math, the school firmly took a leading position in the field at school olympiads. Almost every year, most of the winners of the regional physical-mathematical and chemical olympiad were from the 33rd school. In the early 80's. follows a series of achievements at the All-Russian and All-Union Olympiads. After some recession, the school’s successes resumed in the 90s, and then they went “on the rise”, including victories at the International Olympiads.

Since 1995, the school annually participates in math battle tournaments. Teams of the 33rd school became winners 7 times, 5 times took the second place and 5 times the third. Twice, the school team became the winner of the junior regional matboy tournament. Pupils of the school are constantly in leading roles as part of the teams of the Yaroslavl region in interregional mathematical battles.

Unlike many other schools, the in-school math olympiad in the 33rd was never a formality. Some prize-winners of mathematical olympiads of a higher level did not manage to win at the school olympiad in the 33rd.

The following are data on students from the 33rd school - winners of olympiads of a rank not lower than the All-Russian, recovered from the "Quantum" magazines and the websites of the organizing committees, starting in the 80s. Information as of May 2007
