The village is the center of the village council. It is located on both banks of the Byk River, 4 kilometers northeast of the district center and the railway station of the same name. Annovka, Kutuzovka, Rubizhne obey the Village Council. The former settlements of Katerinovka Sontsovka were annexed to the village, and Tauride and Cloudy were liquidated in connection with the eviction of residents.
History
Russian Empire
The village was founded in the first half of the 19th century and named after the landowner Gannah of the sister of the landowner Enin. The lands on the right bank of the river belonged to the landowner Karpov and Svishtu and on the left Enin. Before the revolution, the village was called: Karpovoe, Svishchevoe, Yenivka and later Katerinovka and Hannovka.
In the 70-80 years of the XIX century, coal deposits were found on these lands. In 1883, the landowner Ivan Enin laid the first mine in his lands, in which he mined coal for his needs.
In 1905, a school was built on the money collected by the community of the village, with one class in 1907 it already had three classes.
In 1912, two mines were opened near the village on the banks of the Byk River.
Civil War 1917-1922
The following villagers took an active part in the revolution: I. M. Tremba, N. I. Bulavin, F. S. Tsikalenko, S. F. Pivnev.
In 1919, a combo was created in the village, and in 1921, the Komsomol cell [1] .
