Doctor Who first appeared on the BBC on November 23, 1963 . Initially, the series was aimed at a family audience ^[20] . The BBC drama series division has created 26 seasons that aired on BBC One . Doctor

The doctor is an eccentric alien traveler of a great mind who fights injustice by traveling in time and space in his old time machine called TARDIS , often accompanied by earthling satellites ^[12] . Lost episodes

Some episodes were returned to the BBC from archives in other countries that purchased copies of the series for display, or by individuals who purchased them in various ways. В России первый сезон возрождённого сериала транслировался на телеканале СТС с 27 марта по 10 апреля 2006 года. С 30 июня по 22 августа 2008 года на этом же канале транслировались первые три сезона возрождённого сериала. В транслируемом на СТС переводе Доктора озвучивал Александр Котов .

Позже права на показ пяти сезонов возрождённого «Доктора Кто» приобрёл телеканал « Sci-Fi Channel » (позже переименованный в « Syfy Universal »), потом и « Universal Channel » ^{[79] [80]} . После прекращения вещания Syfy Universal в России (в феврале 2013), который показал 1—5 сезоны, телеканал Universal Channel продолжил показ сериала «Доктор Кто» до 11 февраля 2013 года.

В 2012 году ВГТРК приобрёл права на показ и озвучивание на русский язык возрождённого сериала «Доктор Кто» (с 5 сезона), и осенью 2012 года на телеканале « Карусель » были показаны пятый и шестой сезоны ^[81] . Осенью 2013 года начался показ 7 сезона. В январе 2015 года начался показ 8 сезона.

С 11 ноября 2013 года начался показ 2—4 сезонов возрождённого сериала на телеканале « Disney » ^[1] .

23 ноября 2013 года на телеканалах « Карусель » и НСТ был показан спецвыпуск, посвящённый 50-летию сериала, — « День Доктора ». Спецвыпуск был озвучен на русский язык по заказу ВГТРК . Также эпизод показывали в 3D в кинотеатрах определённых стран мира, в том числе и в 76 городах России . Организатором показа юбилейной серии в кинотеатрах стало арт-объединение «CoolConnections» ^[82] .

Впервые премию получили в 1975 году сценаристы Малькольм Хьюлк, Терри Нэйшн, Брайан Хайлес и Роберт Сломан за сценарий к 11 сезону , она называлась премией «Гильдии сценаристов Великобритании за лучший сценарий детского сериала». В 1996 году телевидение BBC праздновало 60-летие вещания, где Доктор Кто получил звание «Самой популярной драмы», в рейтинге также участвовали Жители Ист-Энда и ^[83] . В 2000 году Доктор Кто вошёл в список на 3 место « » XX века, составленным британским институтом кино ^[84] . В 2005 году телесериал стал первым в списке «Величайших британский телесериалов жанров научной фантастики и фэнтези всех времён», составленном журналом SFX . Также сериал занял 9 место в списке «100 величайших детских телепередач» телеканала Channel 4 в 2001 году ^[85] .

Возрождённый сериал получил большее количество премий, чем классический сериал, признание критиков и публики. Он получил 5 наград BAFTA TV Award , включая ^[1] (2006), известную и самую престижную британскую награду для телесериалов, на которую «Доктор Кто» когда-либо номинировался ^[86] . Телесериал очень популярен на премии BAFTA Cymru , на которой побеждал 25 раз, включая категории Best Drama Series (2), Best Screenplay/Screenwriter (3) и Best Actor ^[87] . Он 7 раз номинировался на премию « Сатурн », победив 1 раз (премия за « »). В 2009 году Доктор Кто стал 3-м величайшим шоу 2000-х канала Channel 4, уступив Top Gear и ^[88] . Премию получили следующие серии: « Пустой ребёнок »/« Доктор танцует » (2006), « Девушка в камине » (2007), « Не моргай » (2008), « Воды Марса » (2010), « Пандорика открывается »/« Большой взрыв » (2011) ^{[90] [91] [92] [93]} и « Жена Доктора » ^[94] . Мэтт Смит получил премию лучшему актёру, а Карен Гиллан — премию лучшей актрисе National Television awards в 2012 году ^[95] . Дэвид Теннант получал премии лучшему актёру National Television Awards 2 года подряд. Доктор Кто номинировался на получение премий 103 раза и выиграл 85 из них.

В большинстве случаев сериал номинировался на британские премии, например BAFTA ^[1] , но также на американские, например премия « Выбор народа » (категория «Favorite Sci-Fi Show» в 2008 году) и премия Scream Awards «Лучшему научно-фантастическому актёру», которую получил Мэтт Смит в 2011 году ^[96] .

В честь 50-летнего юбилея сериала Королевская почта Великобритании выпустила в 2013 году серию марок, посвящённых «Доктору Кто» ^[3] .
