According to Fasmer’s dictionary , the modern name Streu comes from the Old High German Stroua , Streua and earlier from the tailcoat. Straaoj . Related lit. sraujà and Latvian. strauja - current , dr. jet , bolg. jet , serbochor. strýja , Slovenian. strúja - the sleeve of the river, channel, stream, stream [2] .
