Content
Story
A football club from West Germany flies to Prague for a return game. During training, the team's main player, Franz Pichler, lost consciousness and died on the way to the hospital. It was found that the cause of death was poison, which got into the body after an injection with a poisoned needle attached to a football player’s boot. The team’s coach, in an ultimatum, said that if on the eve of the match the murderer was not found, they would be forced to abandon the game.
Revelation of the crime was entrusted to the investigation team under the leadership of State Security Captain Jiri Patochka. Discarding the version of failed blackmail, detectives found a connection between the loss of secret documentation at the Institute of Automotive Industry and the interest of German industrialists in it. Pichler’s wife’s father, the owner of a large car company, was interested in secretly buying stolen documents.
In the hotel where the footballers lived, two groups of industrial spies who were watching Pichler were discovered. After the operational detention of one of the suspects, an employee of the institute was arrested, who stole the documents and passed them to the football player. The microfilm cassette was stolen from competitors by Pichler, but none of them was interested in his death.
Literally at the last hour before the match, it turned out that the killing on the conscience of the goalkeeper of the team, a young and ambitious athlete who had a love affair with Pichler’s wife and killed the opponent in the hope of getting a fortune after marriage with his former mistress.
