The area of the river basin is 37.344 km² [1] . The total length of the river is 14.29 km [1] . The height of the source is 295 m [2] . The height of the mouth is 227 m [2] .

The river got its name in the Middle Ages from it. Leinbaum - the German word for two different species of trees: Norway maple and large-leaved linden , which often grew along the banks of the local rivers. In various medieval texts, the river is referred to as Limbach, Limpach, Lynbach, Linbach and Leymbach [3] .
