Biography

Matt was born on January 20, 1980 in Bridgend , Wales . As a child, he was fond of heavy metal from the 80s, because of this he started playing the guitar. In 1996, together with fellow college student Michael Thomas , he founded his first band, Trauma , which played in the style of punk rock . In 1998, Matt and Mike formed a new group called Jeff Killed John , who played in the style of alternative metal . From it with time and formed the current team of Matt, Bullet for my Valentine . So is the main composer and author of lyrics to the songs of the group. He shares solo parts with Michael Paget in some of the band’s songs. Matt experienced many depressive situations, and therefore many texts written by Matt are devoted to depression, unhappy love and death. He is the highest member of the group, his height is 180 cm.

Matthew participated in the recording of the album of the Apocalyptica group, performing along with Max Cavalier the song Repressed .

Since 2013, he has been married to Charlotte Bidell, from whom he has a son Evan [1] [2] . In early 2016, the couple divorced.

During a tour of Russia, he was called to see one of the stadiums in Nizhny Novgorod to watch hockey with the ball, and since then, Matt says, he has become his favorite sport.

Health Issues

In November 2006, during a tour with the bands As I Lay Dying and Protest the Hero , So suffered from laryngitis (inflammation of the laryngeal membranes), which led to a series of broken concerts, until in January 2007 he again began to sing, after a period of recovery .

On June 22, 2007, it was announced that Matthew would perform an operation to remove the tonsils. The band was forced to cancel all of their concerts, including their tour with Metallica , as a warming up band. Unable to speak, Matt wrote that as soon as the doctors finished him, he would again appear in the studio to record the new album Scream Aim Fire
