Singer Alex Kapranos said in an interview with the British magazine Boyz that this song was written about two of his friends: “One night the band and I went with our friends from Glasgow to the disco Disco X. together in a very sexual way. " [1]
The song was released as a single in the UK on August 16, 2004. The group usually performs a slightly different version of this song at concerts, first of all the final “Come and dance with me” is replaced by the riskier “Come All Over Me” (this alternative line was in the original draft of the text , but it was crossed out) In addition, the line “stubble on my sticky lips” ( English stubble on my sticky lips ) is sometimes replaced with the words “stubble on my sticky thighs” ( English stubble on my sticky hips ).
The composition is included in the Gran Turismo 4 soundtrack for the Playstation 2.
On the song shot clip.
The song contains a secret message; in the interval from 1:35 to 1:39 it says: "She is worried about you, call your mother" She's worried about you, call your mother , if you lose in the opposite direction. According to franzferdinand.net, bassist Bob Hardy worried about calling mom home, so the group added an inverted string as a reverence. But Bob Hardy said that he did not know about this line, and thought it was just a positive message in the track.
An alternative version of the song was recorded by a duet with Ekaterin Shaw from the Queen of Japan group in May 2004 in Hamburg. This version was originally intended for release as a single. Without changing the text, the revised track was supposed to take the standpoint of the interests of the love of a man and a woman who are fighting for Michael's love. As a result, the group decided that the homoerotic overtones of the song became too sparse, so they decided not to release it, but to keep the original version.
