Physico-geographical characteristics
Geographical position
The village of Novoselki is located in the southwestern part of the region on the Smolensk-Moscow Upland , at an altitude of 185 meters above sea level, 50 kilometers southwest of Moscow (from the MKAD). 5 km south-west of the village is the border of the Kaluga region. Barsky Creek , a tributary of the Kremenka River, flows through the village. After the expansion of the territory of Moscow and the inclusion of the SP Rogovskoye border, the New Moscow border runs 1 km southeast of the village of Novoselki beyond the Barsky stream.
Climate
The climate is temperate continental . Air temperature in winter is lower than in other areas of the Moscow Region. The coldest month is usually January - the average temperature is 10 ° C. In transitional seasons, cyclones are frequent, causing unstable weather. The change of the cold period to warm occurs in late March - early April. In this case, frosts are noted until the end of May, and sometimes the first days of June. Spring is usually short, with sharp fluctuations in temperature. Summer is moderately warm. The average temperature of the warmest month, July, is + 17 ° C. In the second half of summer, the number of cloudy days increases, rains are frequent, often with thunderstorms. The amount of precipitation during the warm period (April-October) is 400-450 mm (with a total annual amount of up to 550 mm). Autumn is usually lingering, overcast, in some years there are returns of warm and dry periods (the so-called “Indian summer”). The cold period usually begins in November and lasts until March, and autumn frosts may already be in early October. Steady snow cover is observed from late November to mid April. The number of hours of sunshine per season reaches 1600, while their number in the warm and cold periods is approximately the same.
Relief
The relief of the Smolensk-Moscow Upland in the vicinity of the village of Novoselki is a hilly undulating plain with small gentle elevations. Soils are mainly sod-podzolic loamy soils.
Vegetation
Forest coverage exceeds 40%. Spruce and spruce-deciduous forests predominate. From broad-leaved tree species , maple , linden , ash , oak , as well as aspen , birch , and mountain ash are found . The vegetative period of plants is from 170 days.

Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker
Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker [2] [3] (Novoselki village) - this stone church was built in 1820 instead of the dilapidated wooden church of the Great Martyr Paraskeva in the village of Dyatlovo. In the main part, she had a throne in the name of St. Nicholas, and in a warm aisle - in the name of the great martyr George. Sport Fishing
A dam was built on the outskirts of the village of Novoselki on Barsky Creek , forming a pond 750 m long and up to 120 m wide. The pond is stocked (crucian carp, carp, grass carp, tench, pike, canal and river catfish, trout, whitefish, sturgeon). Organized paid sport fishing [5] . Hunt
1 km north of the village of Novoselki in the forest there is a hunting and fishing base "Nara", related to the Aprelevka hunting farm of the Moscow city organization of the public and state association VFSO Dynamo [6] . The main objects of hunting on the farm are ungulates - an elk and a wild boar, as well as a hare. To a lesser extent, hunting for hazel grouse, woodcock, and waterfowl is carried out. Of the fur species, marten, squirrel, and mole are of primary importance. Near the base, 500 m, is a picturesque stocked pond.
