Biography
Born in the Smolensk region. He graduated from a seven-year school. After the death of his parents, he went to Smolensk , where he worked and graduated from the flying club .
In 1938, he was drafted into the army, and, after studying at the Polina Osipenko Odessa Military Aviation School, was sent to serve in the Far East .
Participation in the Great Patriotic War
With the outbreak of war, he was in the Far East and only in 1942 was sent to the Soviet-German front as part of the 28th Guards Fighter Regiment . He fought on the Northwest , Kalinin , 3rd Belorussian , 1st and 2nd Baltic fronts. He flew on the American aircraft Bell P-39 Airacobra .
He was distinguished by his courage and determination, then the captain, Mazurin. For example:
In one of the sorties in the Zemland peninsula area, the four, led by the captain Mazurin, were suddenly attacked by the four FW-190 . By skillful maneuver, Mazurin led the group out of attack, and then he went on the attack and shot down one aircraft. Continuing patrolling, the pilots noticed 23 enemy vehicles that stormed our positions on the front line. Suddenly attacking the enemy, the pilots shot down two FW-190s, one of which was on the account of the leader. The command of the ground forces on the radio thanked the pilots and congratulated them on their victory.
In total, during the war years, Mazurin performed 324 sorties, conducted 54 air battles, personally shot down 19 enemy planes and in group 2 [1] .
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of August 18, 1945 , Mazurin Fedor Makarovich was awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
After the war
After the war, he worked at the State Red Banner Scientific Testing Institute of the Air Force . He participated in tests of a spacesuit designed for flights in the stratosphere , as well as in tests of the Yak-25 aircraft.
In 1964, Colonel Mazurin was sacked. He lived in the village of Chkalovsky (city of Shchelkovo) in the Moscow region . He died on January 17, 1985. He was buried in the cemetery of the village of Leonikh Shchelkovsky district .

Memory
- A memorial plaque in memory of Mazurin was erected by the Russian Military Historical Society at a school in the village of Mogotovo , where he studied [2] .
