Bakikhanov, Jafar-Kuli-aga

Jafar-Kuli-aga Bakikhanov ( azerb. Cəfərqulu Ağa Bakıxanov ; February 6, 1793 [1] - October 12, 1867 [1] ) - Russian military leader of Azerbaijani origin, lieutenant general , participant in the Caucasus campaigns, junior brother of the Azerbaijani scientist and writer Abbas Quli Aga Bakikhanov .

Biography

Born in 1793 [1] , a descendant of the last Baku khan, Huseyn Kuli Khan [2] .

Consisted of Russian military service in the Caucasian troops and distinguished himself in the 1826 campaign against the Persians during the blockade of Cuba . In 1827, Jafar Quli Aga was appointed naib of Shabran Magal , and in the 1830s , Naib of Mushkur Magal. In the campaign of 1829 against the Turks, Bakikhanov was in the battles during the defeat of the Erzurum seraskir at Mili-dyuze and the subsequent occupation of the fortresses Khasan-Kale and Erzurum , for the difference, he was promoted to first officer as lieutenant . Continuing his entire service in the Caucasus , Bakikhanov was promoted to lieutenant in the Transcaucasian equestrian Muslim regiment in 1838 and to captains in 1841 for his distinction in campaigns against the highlanders .

In the campaigns of 1842 and 1843 , Bakikhanov fought with the highlanders in the Samur district and in Nagorno- Dagestan , for the difference he was enlisted in the Life Guards with the rank of captain in the Life Guards Cossack Regiment with the appointment to be cavalry of the Separate Caucasian Corps and the following year was promoted to captain of the guard . In 1844 - 1848 , he was also in Dagestan and participated in affairs near Salty and Gergebil , and he especially distinguished himself during the storming of the last aul in 1848. For this matter, Colonel Bakikhanov was awarded a golden saber with the inscription "For Courage" on June 6, 1848 [3] .

In 1849 he was promoted to major general , on November 26, 1850 Bakikhanov was awarded the Order of St. for the immaculate length of service for 25 years in officer ranks . George 4th degree (No. 8356 according to the cavalier list of Grigorovich - Stepanov). In August 1856 he attended the coronation ceremony of Alexander II in Moscow . He headed the deputation from the upper class of the Derbent province . Since 1857, he was a member of the Caucasian Army for political affairs. He was promoted to lieutenant general with dismissal from service with a uniform and full retirement pension on October 18, 1864 . He was again appointed on March 19, 1866 to serve in the rank of lieutenant general in the army cavalry with a fortune under the Caucasian army. The Order of St. Anna of the 1st degree.

In November 1867, he died in the city ​​of Cuba [4] , from where his remains, at a solemn meeting, marked by special honors, were delivered to Baku for burial in the family crypt of the Baku khans in the Shikhovoy village near the Bibi Heybat mosque [5] , the most sacred spot edge.

His sons Ahmed-aga and Hasan-aga also served in the Russian imperial army and were at the disposal of the Commander-in-Chief of the Caucasian Army. Ahmed-aga was a colonel in the Life Guards of the Cossack Regiment [6] , and Hasan-aga was Major General [7] [8] ; the elder brother of Abbaskuli-aga was a colonel [9] [10] .

Family

Since 1829, Jafar-Kuli-aga Bakikhanov was married to Chimnaz-khanim, daughter of Khanbutay-bek Khazrinsky, guardian of the tomb Sheikh-Juneyd Safevi . They had 3 sons and 2 daughters: Hasan-aga (May 8, 1833–28 November 1898), Ahmed-aga (June 16, 1838–13 April 1882), Gayayat-aga (August 4, 1845–?), Nurdzhakhan-khanim ( July 6, 1832-1912) and Aina-hanym (September 8, 1836-?)
