Pyrgos is a small town in Cyprus . Officially, they consist of two villages: Kato Pyrgos ( Greek Κάτω Πύργος ) and Pana Pyrgos ( Greek Πάνω Πύργος ). The population of about 3,000 inhabitants. Pyrgos is the only city in Morphou Bay controlled by the Government of the Republic of Cyprus . Due to its location, surrounded by the Troodos Mountains , the Turkish exclave of Kokkin and the Green Line, it is an isolated and inaccessible area, so the tourist season takes place only in August during the summer holidays. On the Green Line near Kato Pyrgos, a checkpoint was planned to facilitate travel to Nicosia , but these plans had to be postponed for some time.
