Zhizhitskoe [1] [2] [3] [4] [5] is a lake in the Kunyinsky district in the southeast of the Pskov region [1] .

The area is 57.3 km², the maximum depth is 7.8 m, and the average depth is 3.2 m [4] . The second reservoir of the region after the Pskov-Peipsi Lake Complex .
Flowing lake. Bream-fuss-snotkovy. Massive fish species: pike perch , bream , pike , roach , perch , silver bream , smelt , hive , ruff , rudd , catfish , tench , burbot , bluefin , crucian carp , asp , minnow , loach , tweezers , dace , verkhovka , ide , eel , lamprey , quickid , chub , sculpin [4] .
The shores of the lake are flat and low, partly boggy. There are 28 islands in the lake with an area of 134 hectares (1.34 km²). The bottom is uneven (nalya, pits), in the center - silt, silted sand, separate stones, in the littoral - sand, sand with pebbles and stone, stones, silted sand [4] .
Through the flowing lake Zhakto and the Zhizhitsa river it is connected with the Zapadnaya Dvina river [6] .
On the peninsula in the northwestern part of the lake is the ancient city of иy городаec .
Zizycka archaeological culture of the middle of the third millennium BC is named after the lake. e. (Late Neolithic ) [7] .
In 1245, Prince Alexander Nevsky defeated the remains of the Lithuanian army near Zizzycko Lake after he defeated it near Toropets .
