Mythology

In Ossetian mythology, Uatsilla is a thunderer and ruler of storms, the patron of agriculture and harvest, and therefore he is called the "bread Uatsilla." Several sanctuaries were dedicated to him, among which the most famous - Tbau-Watsilla - is located on Mount Tbau in the Dargavsky Gorge. During the rite, three Watsilla cakes are dedicated to the third toast.

... Ossetians, having become Christians, took this character, who is called Wacilla - "St. Ilya", the region of a thunderstorm. Like the Russians, they think that Wacilla walks through the sky and exterminates evil spirits, swords of thunder and lightning. When a person is struck by lightning, they believe that Wacilla put his fat (arrow or core) in him, and look for a saint near the dead sling [3]

In its spirit and content, the Nart epic is a pre-Christian, pagan epic. Although it includes Uastirdzhi (St. George), Wasilla (St. Ilya) and other Christian characters, but Christian in them - only names, their images come from the pagan world. [four]

Wacilla chained to the moon the monster of Arthaus , created by God for good, who, however, disobeying God, began to teach people evil. Artauz constantly nibbles his chains on the moon, trying to free himself and crack down on the inhabitants of the earth. Wacilla also closely monitors the newborn serpentine monster Ruimon , who can, having grown to an incredible size, destroy all people living on earth.
