The Belarusian Orienteering Federation ( Belorussian. Belarusian Federation of Land Management ; English; Belarusian Orienteering Federation , abbreviated as BFO) is a public sports organization of the Republic of Belarus , which is engaged in the development and popularization of orienteering , all its varieties that use a map , compass , and other technical means. He is a full member of the International Orienteering Federation [1] .

History
On November 23, 1991 , a conference was held in Minsk , which decided to establish the Belarus Orienteering Federation, approved the Charter and elected the leadership of the federation [2] .
Mission
- promoting the development of orientation as a mass, accessible sport
- promotion of a healthy lifestyle, sports longevity
Tasks
- orienteering development in the Republic of Belarus, expanding its geography, increasing the level of skill of athletes and the number of orienteers [3]
- the development of sports relations and business contacts, the organization of sports tours, the exchange of delegations with teams and athletes from other countries;
- organization and holding of sporting events
- participation in the work and representation of the interests of athletes and specialists in relations with the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Belarus, government agencies in charge of the sports and fitness movement in Belarus
- participation in the work of the International Orienteering Federation, its committees and commissions, governing bodies
- preparation of national teams for participation in international competitions, participation in official events of the calendar of the International Orienteering Federation
- generalization and dissemination of best practices of world and domestic orientation, development and implementation of progressive forms and methods in the educational process
- organization and holding of seminars, meetings, scientific and practical conferences on advanced training of orientation specialists, training camps, sports camps and other events
- providing members of the Federation with orientation information materials
- organization of work to improve the material and technical base of orientation, the creation of sports cards for classes and competitions
Governing Bodies
The supreme body of the Belarusian Orienteering Federation is the Conference, convened once every four years. Decisions are made by a simple majority of the number of registered delegates.
The exclusive competence of the Conference includes:
- determination of the main areas of activity of the federation, long-term projects and programs
- election of the chairman and deputy chairman of the federation for a period of four years and approval of their reports on the work done
- election of the Federation Council for a term of four years
In the period between Conferences, the activities of the Belarusian Orienteering Federation are led by the Federation Council. Meetings of the Council are convened by the chairman of the federation as necessary, but at least once a year. Decisions are made by a simple majority of the votes of those present.
The exclusive competence of the Federation Council includes:
- approval of the plan of the main events of the federation, calendar and regulations on holding republican competitions for the next year
- election of the executive secretary of the federation and the head coach of the national teams for a period of four years, annual hearing of their progress reports
- approval of the regulations on the commissions of the federation and their chairmen
To quickly resolve issues related to the activities of the federation, the Presidium is formed, which is the executive body. The Presidium consists of: chairman, deputy chairman, executive secretary, head coach of national teams, executive director. Decisions are taken by a simple majority of the members of the Presidium.
Membership
Membership in the Belarusian Orienteering Federation is voluntary. Citizens of the Republic of Belarus and foreign citizens may be members of the Federation over 16 years of age.
Members are entitled to:
- elect and be elected to the governing bodies of the federation
- take part in events held by the federation
- receive information from the governing bodies of the federation related to its activities;
- participate in the discussion of any issues related to the activities of the federation
Members are required to:
- comply with the Charter of the Belarusian Orienteering Federation
- actively participate in the activities of the federation, contribute to the fulfillment of its tasks
- comply with the standards of sports and judicial ethics
