Short Biography

Born in the Transylvanian city ​​of Oderhellen (Udvarhei) ( Austria-Hungary ) (now Odorheiu Secuiesc , Romania ).

Known as a major plant taxonist , researcher of the flora of Central Europe . Rezho Shoo - a recognized specialist in European orchids ; among other things, he studied in detail the genus Palmatokorennik ( Dactylorhiza ).

Corresponding member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences since 1947 , full member of the Academy since 1951 .

Twice laureate of the Hungarian State Prize Kossuth - 1951st and 1954th.

Shoo was a passionate philatelist . He handed over his collection (225 thousand postage stamps) to the city of Debrecen ; a part of this collection is located in the Showcase of the Stagecoach ( Hungarian. Delizsansz Kiallitoterem ) Debrecen [2] .
