Biography
Born on June 1, 1950 in the village of Gusanagyukh of the Armenian SSR . He graduated from the Novosibirsk State Medical Institute ( 1972 ) with honors. In 1973 he defended his thesis , and in 1982 - a doctoral dissertation .
He worked at the Institute of Clinical and Experimental Medicine of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR as a junior researcher, head of the laboratory, scientific secretary, and deputy director.
In 1982-1987 - Chairman of the Council of Young Scientists and Specialists of the USSR, was one of the organizers of the system of Scientific and Technical Creativity of Youth.
In 1984 , he was awarded the Lenin Komsomol Prize in the field of science and technology.
In 1987—2014. - Chairman of the Presidium of the East Siberian Branch of the Siberian Branch of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (then until 2012 - East Siberian Scientific Center SB RAMS) in Irkutsk .
In 1998 - 2011 at the same time led the Scientific Center for Medical Ecology of the VSNS SB RAMS. He was a professor at Irkutsk State University.
In 1989 - 1992 - People’s deputy of the USSR , secretary of the medical team of the Congress of People’s Deputies of the USSR, worked in the committee on health protection.
In 1991 - 1999 and 2008–2012 - co-chair (from 2001 to 2006 - vice president) of the International Movement “ Doctors of the World for the Prevention of Nuclear War ”.
In 1991 , he was elected a corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR .
Since 1997 - elected academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (since 2013, RAS).
In 1999 - 2003 - Deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 3rd convocation , committee on health and sport.
Since 2001 - Member of the Russian Pugwash Committee under the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Sciences , in 2011 - present Member of the Presidium of the Committee.
In 2006 - 2014 , he was a member of the Presidium of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (after the reform of the Russian Academy of Sciences, he was a member of the Bureau of the Department of Medical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences). Professor of the First Moscow University. I.M.Sechenov (2003-2008) and the Russian State Medical University. N.I. Pirogova (2005-2011).
In 2004 - 2007 - Deputy Chairman of the People’s Party of the Russian Federation [1]
In 2003 - 2007 - Member of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the 4th convocation , Deputy Chairman of the Committee of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation for Education and Science.
In 2007 - 2011 - deputy of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the 5th convocation , deputy chairman of the committee on health protection (faction "United Russia").
From 2001 to 2012 - Advisor to the Presidium of the RAMS, then from 2013 - Advisor to the RAS.
Since 2018 - Deputy Chief Scientific Secretary of the RAS
In 2000 and 2012, he was a confidant of candidate for presidency of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin .
Professor, Department of Public Policy, Moscow State University.
He trained more than 60 doctors and candidates of sciences.
Editor-in-chief of Acta biomedica scientifica, member of the editorial boards of 20 journals.
Family
The son of Ivan Nikolaevich Kolesnikov and Valentina Ivanovna Serebrennikova. Wife Lyubov Ilinichna Kolesnikova (nee Gorelik) is an academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences with a degree in general pathology. Daughter Marina Melgunova, candidate of medical sciences. There is a grandson.
