Yone Minagawa ( Japanese: 皆川 ヨ 子 Minagawa Yone , January 4, 1893 - August 13, 2007 ) is a Japanese centenarian who was the oldest person on the planet from January 28, 2007 (after the death of American long-lived Emma Tillman ), until her own death.

Biography
Yone was born in the Japanese village of Akaike, Fukuoka Prefecture (modern Fukuchi village), January 4, 1893 , so she was already 50 when Japan was defeated in World War II . The woman was widowed and raised five children early, selling flowers and vegetables in a mining town on Kyushu Island.
According to the stories of others, Yone Minagawa remained a conscious and energetic person until her death. She was very fond of sweets and willingly shared them with others. Also, despite her advanced age, the longevity loved to be in public and even danced, moving to the music in a wheelchair. She often played the shamisen , and considered “good food and good sleep” the secret of her longevity. [one]
In April 2005, after the death of 114-year-old Ura Koyama, Minagawa became the oldest person in Japan, and on January 28, 2007 , with the death of 114-year-old American centenarian Emma Tillman , the oldest person in the world. The age of Yone Minagawa at the time the world record was set was 114 years and 25 days.
Yone Minagawa died at the age of 114 and 221 days, on August 13, 2007, in the nursing home of Fukuchi. She survived her four children, but left behind her six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
