The Hasinay Confederation (in the caddo language of Hasí: nay , other names are Hasini , Asenai , Asinai , Assoni , Asenay , Cenis and Sannaye ) is a large confederation of tribes of the Great Plains who spoke Caddoan languages . Inhabited between the rivers Sabina (Texas and Louisiana) and Trinity (east Texas). Among the Spaniards, they were known as Texas (from the word táyshaʔ , “friend” in the caddo language, with the Spanish plural ending -s), from which the name of the state of Texas came from.
Strength
Once their number was 10,000, but after the Spaniards introduced smallpox, their number was halved, now it is only 2,000.
