Bolshoi Topolnoye is a bitter-salty lake in the Burlinsky district of the Altai Territory , near the border with the Novosibirsk Region and the Republic of Kazakhstan .

The lake is located at an altitude of 99 m above sea level. The area of the water mirror is 76.6 km², the length is 13.4 km, the width is 8.2 km, the average depth is 2 m, the largest is 2.5 m. The maximum area of the water mirror when the lake level is high is 113 km². In some years, the lake is able to dry out completely, and at such a time this area is a wet meadow. The catchment area is 10700 km² [2] .
The basin of the lake is located in the valley of the Burla River. The banks of the basin are steep and generally have a relative excess of 4-5 m. The eastern shores are 7-8 m. The bottom of the lake is sandy. The river Burla flows into the lake. In addition, during wet years, runoff from the lake can occur through the dry section of Burly connecting it with Lake Big Azhbulat. The food is mostly snowy. In 1966, the flow from the Big Poplar Lake was regulated by the dam at the exit. There is fish farming and fishing on the lake.
