Title
This region was first discovered in images of the far side of the moon obtained by the Soviet automatic interplanetary station Luna-3 . The area was called the Sea of Dreams with the corresponding Latin name - Mare Desiderii (lit. Sea of Desire). However, in later sharper pictures, it was clear that this was not a single lowland, but a combination of several craters and a flat area called Mare Ingenii . In this regard, the International Astronomical Union included in the list of objects on the lunar surface only the name Mare Ingenii , to which the Russian name Dream Sea was transferred. Although, the Latin name "Mare Ingenii" literally translates as "Sea of Mind"
