Schultz, Heinrich Karlovich

Henrikh Karlovich Schultz (born March 23, 1929 , USSR 1999 ) was a Soviet sambo and judo wrestler . Six - time champion of the USSR in sambo ( 1955 , 1956 , 1958 , 1959 , 1960 , 1961 ) [1] , European champion in judo ( 1963 ) [2] , Honored Master of Sports , Honored Trainer of the USSR, international judge [3] , captain first USSR national judo team. He played in the weight category over 80 kg (in sambo - up to 85 kg).

Biography

Heinrich Karlovich Schultz improved his skills at the State Central Order of Lenin Institute of Physical Culture (SCOLIFK, now RGAFK) under the leadership of Honored Master of Sports, Honored Coach of the USSR E.M. Chumakov .

In 1956, Schulz became the founder of the Sambo section at the Moscow Higher Technical School. N. E. Bauman [4] .

In 1963, as part of a team of four prominent sambo fighters in the Soviet Union (except for Shultz, it included Oleg Stepanov (weight category up to 68 kg), Vladimir Pankratov (weight category up to 80 kg) and Durmishkhan Beruashvili (weight category over 80 kg)) triumphantly performed in a pre-olympic judo tournament held in Japan . During this tournament, Heinrich Schultz did not lose a single bout. [5] [6] [7] [8]

After the completion of his sports career, G. K. Schulz worked for more than 40 years as a teacher at the Department of Physical Education at the Moscow State Technical University (formerly MVT). N. E. Bauman. During this time, his students became champions of the USSR in sambo sixteen times, repeatedly won the titles of prize-winners of European championships in judo.

Heinrich Karlovich Schulz died in 1999 in Moscow and was buried in the Pyatnitsky cemetery [9] .

Every year on March 23 (on the birthday of G. K. Schulz), in memory of the contribution of an outstanding wrestler and coach to the development of sambo, the All-Russian tournament on sambo in memory of G. K. Schulz has been held for more than ten years [10] .

In the name of G. K. Schultz, the school “Sambo-Judo” was named at MSTU. N. E. Bauman [11] .

  • GK Schulz had a good sense of humor. He liked to introduce himself: "I am a simple Russian guy, Heinrich Karlovich Schultz." [12]
