Cottle County is located in the United States , Texas . It was officially formed in 1892 and named after George Cottle , a soldier of the Texas Revolution who died in the Battle of Alamo . As of 2000 , the population was 1904 people. The district center is the city of Paduc , where the majority of the population lives.

According to the United States Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 2,335 km², of which 1,801 km² are land and 1 km² or 0.05% are water bodies.

Demographics
According to the 2000 census [1] , 1904 residents lived in the okrug, consisting of 820 households and 550 families. The population density was 1 person per 1 square kilometer. There were 1,088 residential buildings with a coverage density of 1 building per 1 square mile. The racial makeup of the population was 81.46% White, 9.87% Black or African American , 7.2% Other races, and 1.47% were representatives of two or more races. 18.91% of the population were Hispanic or Latino.
Of the 820 households, 28% raised children under the age of 18 years, 53.9% of married couples who lived together, in 10.6% of families women lived without husbands, 32.9% did not have families. At the time of the census, 32% of the total number lived on their own, 20.9% of people over 65 who lived alone. On average, 2.28 people were accounted for each household, the average family size was 2.84 people.
The indicators for age categories in the district were as follows: 23.9% residents under 18 years old, 5.7% from 18 to 24 years old, 21.5% from 25 to 44 years old, 23.3% from 45 to 64 years old, and 25 , 6% over 65 years. The average age was 41 years. For every 100 females there are 89.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 85.2 males.
The average income per household in the district was $ 25,446, per family - $ 33,036. The average earnings of a man were $ 24,375 against $ 16,667 for a woman. The per capita income was $ 16,212.
