Pomo idol
Pomos idol ( Greek Ειδώλιο από τον Πωμό ) - an ancient sculpture from the Cypriot village of Pomos. Her story goes back to the Eneolithic period ( XXX century BC ). It is currently on display at the Archaeological Museum of Cyprus in Nicosia .
The sculpture depicts a woman with her arms spread out in different directions. Most likely it is a symbol of fertility ( fertility ). In Cyprus, at one time, many similar sculptures were found, including smaller ones that were worn around the neck as an amulet.
After the transition of Cyprus to the euro in 2008 , the Pomoss idol was chosen as an image on coins in denominations of 1 and 2 euros.
