Biography
Born in the city of Polotsk [1] in the family of an employee. Jew . Secondary education.
In the Red Army since 1926. He graduated from the military infantry school. Member of the CPSU (b) since 1932. Member of the Soviet-Finnish war of 1939-1940.
At the end of January 1940, the battalion under the command of Captain Maxim Rapeyko occupied an important height near the Johannes railway station (now Sovetsky ) and inflicted significant damage on the enemy in manpower and military equipment. A group of soldiers led by the battalion commander M.O. Rapeyko knocked out the enemy from the station.
In the battle for the island of Lasisaari (now Glass Island, located next to the island of Turkin-Saari, now Ovchinny ), on February 25, 1940, a brave reconnaissance officer died the death of the brave. He was buried at the battlefield.
Rewards
By a decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR dated March 21, 1940, "for exemplary performance of command missions on the front against the Finnish White Guard and courage and heroism shown at the same time," Captain Rapeyko Maxim Osipovich was posthumously awarded the title Hero of the Soviet Union.
