Architecture
The pillarless five-domed church, without basement , is covered by a vault. The drums with heads stand on large decorative kokoshniks . The chapel of the Vologda saint Dmitry Prilutsky adjoins the church from the south, from the north - the chapel in memory of the Last Judgment of Christ. The interior of the main cube is illuminated by nine tall windows. [1] .
After the fire of 1753, the old wooden chapters crowning the graceful drums were replaced by new, bizarre baroque shapes. In the 1950s, the heads of the church and its tiled decor were restored according to the project of V. N. Zakharova [2] .
Wall murals
The exact date the mural was created is unknown. The inscription in the altar near the high place tells only the date of the consecration of the church by Metropolitan Joasaph of Rostov - July 2, 1693. Apparently, in 1693 the painting was completed, and started in 1692.
The authorship of the Epiphany painting is not established. The stylistic heterogeneity of the compositional-shaped and color structure of the mural indicates the participation in the performance of representatives of two different art groups. In the 1800s, the lower tier of murals and the clearance were updated in adhesive technology by Semen Stepanov Zavyazoshnikov. In the 1860s, painting at the altar was renewed; in the 1950s, the paint layer throughout the church was strengthened and washed by V. Bryusova and A. Rogozin [2] .
