The stone bridge over the Ushayka River in Tomsk was built in 1916 according to the project of architect Konstantin Lygin . The bridge is an architectural monument of federal significance.

General information

The bridge from the reinforced concrete slab was built by engineers Caesar Lubinsky and Eduard Wecker on the site of the wooden Duma bridge , erected in 1819 according to the project of the future Decembrist Gabriel Batenkov and for almost a century has become quite dilapidated. The stone bridge was the last building designed by Lygin, after which he was engaged only in teaching at the Tomsk Institute of Technology . The bridge was first opened on November 20 (December 2), 1915, however, in the spring of 1916, during the flood, it suffered significant damage, then it was repaired and was finally opened on October 7 (October 20), 1916.

The bridge is 42.2 meters long and 24.4 meters wide. The four corners of the bridge are decorated with rostral columns , between which four low tetrahedral columns for lanterns are placed.

During the Great Patriotic War , a railway line was laid across the bridge to TPP -1; for this, the bridge had to be strengthened. In 1949, a tram line passed along the bridge, for which the railway tracks were shifted, and the rostral columns were used as the supports of the contact network. The Stone Bridge is the only tram bridge in Tomsk. In 1984-1989, the bridge was restored, in 2007 a major reconstruction of the bridge was carried out, excessive asphalt pavement was removed, the supports of the bridge and the shore of Ushaika in the area were strengthened.
