Sitecore is a developer of web content management systems , online marketing and portal intranet solutions for large and medium-sized businesses around the world. The company was founded in 2001 in Copenhagen, Denmark, with a group of 5 like-minded people ^[1] . Sitecore currently has offices and representative offices in more than 50 countries around the world.

Content

Products

First of all, Sitecore is known for its Web Content Management System Sitecore Web CMS (WCM, WCMS or Web CMS), currently in version 6.5, which was released on June 8, 2011 ^[2] . Sitecore also offers a solution for organizing a corporate Intranet portal, as well as Sitecore Foundry, a system for managing many affiliate websites. Additional modules include SharePoint Connector, SEO, Forum, Newsletter, and the StatCenter module. Starting June 30, 2009, the Online Marketing Suite is also available, which combines the WCM system with the latest web analytics technologies and marketing automation capabilities ^[3] .

A free version of Sitecore CMS with limited functionality ^[4] is available as Sitecore Xpress .

Content Management Framework

Sitecore Web CMS - the flagship product of Sitecore, is also a full-featured, content-dependent framework (executes code written for it, rather than executing itself) with a separation of content and design. Having a simple but powerful unified concept of structural elements called Content Items, the system can be used to implement various content delivery scenarios in many formats, including, but not limited to, HTML , PDF , Flash / Flex and Silverlight .

Microsoft SharePoint Attitude

Sitecore products are often compared to Microsoft SharePoint , Microsoft ’s popular web-based team-building system, which is part of the Microsoft Office product family ^[5] . Although there are a number of areas where the functionality of both products overlaps, both systems target different applications. While Microsoft SharePoint is typically used on the intranet of an organization as an internal corporate portal ^[6] , Sitecore is typically used to manage external as well as internal content.

Technology

Sitecore, which is built on Microsoft technology . NET 3.5, provides the visitor with the delivery of personalized content in a dynamic mode ^[7] . Sitecore architecture allows the use of information stored in various systems. Current data providers supported by Sitecore include:
