Chokhraganli, Mahmudali Babahan oglu

Dr. Mahmudali Babahan oglu Chokhraganli ( azerb. Mahmudəli Babaxan oğlu Çöhrəqanlı , pers. چهرگانی ) is the leader of the Azerbaijani rights movement in Iran , founder (in 1995) and head of the National Awakening Movement of South Azerbaijan , former professor of the Department of Linguistics, University of Tabriz.

Content

Biography

Chokhraganli was born in 1958 in Shabestar ( East Azerbaijan ). His father was arrested on charges of high treason during the Shah.

Working as a deputy dean at the Faculty of Linguistics, Mahmudali Chokhraganli defended his thesis. He lectured on linguistics at the Tabriz University of Terbije, at the same time working on scientific works and monographs. His book “Turkic words in the Persian language” written in 1994 is known. His works were published, such as “Comparison of the phonetics of Azerbaijani with Persian and Arabic”, “Compositions of verbs in the Azerbaijani language”. The Azerbaijan National Creative Academy awarded him a doctorate in philological sciences and a professor for scientific and pedagogical activities.

Political Activities

The activities of Chokhraganli are aimed at making Iran a federal state and for democracy. [1] He was the representative of the Mejlis of the Islamic Republic of Iran from Tabriz. However, he was subsequently arrested. [2]

He is also the founder of Oyanysh (Awakening) television channel. Today lives in the USA .
