Construction

The ship was laid down at the Lenin Forge factory in Kiev on August 1, 1981, and launched on March 27, 1983.

Service

By order of the Commander of the Black Sea Fleet of October 6, 1983, he was included on October 9 into the 400th division of anti-submarine ships of the 68th brigade of ships of the water area protection, and joined the fleet on November 3, 1983. From April 10, 1984 to February 15, 1992, it was called the “Komsomolets of Moldova” [1] .

Since December 29, 1984, for 32 days, the ship successfully carried out military service in the Black Sea , at the entrance to the Bosphorus , and received a rating of "excellent". The following year, he received the same grade for serving at the Bosphorus and was declared an excellent ship in 1985.

In 1986, he served in the Mediterranean , was again declared a great ship. In 1989, the Komsomolets of Moldavia carried out military service at the Bosphorus for 68 days. The following year, the IPC spent 250 days in the campaign [1] .

During the civil war in Ethiopia in 1990-1991, the Komsomolets of Moldova successfully served in the Red Sea . In August 1990, the ship was replaced by the Scouts marine minesweeper near the Ethiopian Dahlak archipelago. On October 19, 1990, the ship was escorted by a convoy consisting of two large landing ships , the Sheksna tanker and the Paravan sea minesweeper. At 14:30, the Soviet convoy was fired upon by two coastal batteries of Eritrean separatists from Cape Karali and Asarka Severnaya Island. According to IPC-118, six 122-mm shells and three unguided rockets of the Grad MLRS were launched. A minute later, the commander of the warhead-2 senior lieutenant S. Potanin from the main command post received the command "Fire!". Having consumed up to hundreds of shells, the Komsomolets of Moldova crushed both batteries and blew up an ammunition depot.

Later, for combat service, the commander of the ship, Captain-Lieutenant D. Brastovsky, was awarded the Order of the Red Star. Also, awards were received by 10 crew members [2] , among whom were the chief of staff of the IPC division captain 3rd rank S. V. Stary, the deputy political commander senior lieutenant O. Yakimov, the commander of the BS-2 senior lieutenant S. Potanin and the commander of the BS-3 lieutenant D. Cheremnykh.

In total, during the period of military service in the Red Sea, the Komsomolets of Moldavia successfully conducted more than 30 convoys of Soviet ships. After returning from combat service, the ship was determined to be repaired, but stood at the wall of the Sevmorzavod for 6 years due to lack of financial resources for repairs [2] .

Since February 15, 1992, the IPC was returned the name MPK-118; Since April 5, 1999, the ship was given the name "Suzdalets". For six consecutive years, from 1998 to 2003, Suzdalets was honored to participate in naval parades on Russian Navy Day .

On March 2, 2004, Suzdalets was taken by sea tug MB-173 to Novorossiysk for docking and medium-sized repairs at the Tuapse Shipyard (for the repair of a gas turbine, echo sounder, alignment of valines, revision of the steering device, cleaning and painting of the hull) [2] .

According to some reports, on August 10, 2008, he repelled the attack of three Georgian patrol boats during the war in South Ossetia. One of the boats sank, 5 crew members were killed [3] .

In 2017, the ship is part of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia.
