Story
The film takes place in the early 1930s on the construction of the Vakhsh Canal in Tajikistan . A foreign agent, Murray, who came to the Soviet Union on a contract as a civil engineer, is preparing an explosion in the dam bridge with his accomplices. They manage to intimidate American engineers who are actively involved in construction and slander the chief engineer Urtabaev. However, Chekists disrupt the machinations of enemies, and the construction of the canal is completed on schedule. At the same time, the love line between Masha and the young American engineer Clark, who ultimately decides to stay in the USSR, is developing.
