Novodnistrovsk ( Ukrainian: Novodnistrovsk ) is a city of regional significance in the Sokiryansky district of the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine .

Content
History
On April 6, 1973 , the USSR Minister of Energy signed an order establishing the Directorate of the Dniester hydroelectric complex. Thus began the construction of the Dniester hydroelectric power station , an important energy facility for the country, which was the beginning of the birth of a new city. Together with the construction of a hydroelectric power station, the construction of a settlement began.
By the decision of the Chernivtsi Regional Council of Deputies No. 57 of February 25, 1975 , the newly formed settlement of the builders of the Dniester complex waterworks was given the name and status - urban-type settlement Novodnistrovsk.
In January 1989, the population was 10,511 people [2] .
July 16, 1993 the village received the status of a city of regional subordination [3] .
In July 1995, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine approved a decision on the privatization of the bakery located here [4] .
On July 13, 2000 , the head of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Ivan Plyushch, signed a Decree on classifying Novodnistrovsk as a city of regional significance.
Population
According to the 2001 All-Ukrainian Population Census, the following ethnic groups were present in the city population:
- Ukrainians - 87.1%
- Russians - 10.2%
- Moldavians - 0.9%
- Belarusians - 0.5%
- Romanians - 0.3% [5]
- Poles - 0.2%.
