History
Red Village
The Church of All Saints was built in Krasnoye Selo, in one of the oldest settlements near Moscow, which already existed in the 12th - 13th centuries . The first annalistic mentions of the Red Village date back to 1480 . The village was located near the ancient Stromynsky road . This road went from Moscow through the villages of Preobrazhenskoye and Cherkizovo to the village of Stromyn ( Noginsky district ) and then to Vladimir and Suzdal . [1] The village got its name from the Great (Red) Pond located in it, the area of which was equal to the area of the Moscow Kremlin (23 hectares ).
By the beginning of the XVII century, the village was becoming large and densely populated. The records of the Swede Peter Petreia, who visited Moscow in 1608 - 1611 , said that "near Moscow lies a large village, in which up to 700 peasants and artisans, it is called the Red Village" [2] . In the middle of the 18th century, the village entered the city limits and became the outskirts of Moscow.
Temple Construction
In 1837, the Alekseevsky monastery , called Novo-Alekseevsky, was transferred from the center to the outskirts of Moscow to the Red Village. In 1887 - 1891, the All Saints Church was built at the new cemetery of the Novo-Alekseevsky Monastery with the chapel of the Kazan Mother of God , the architect of the project was architect A. A. Nikiforov . The temple looks very unusual. The tall three-headed bell tower of the temple looks unusual. Icon painters of the Trinity-Sergius Lavra took part in the mural of the temple. The white-stone iconostasis of the temple was designed by the famous architect N. I. Chichagov . For those who wanted to have family crypts in the basement of the temple, a tomb was arranged. [2]
The cemetery of the Novo-Alekseevsky monastery was opened in 1841 . By the time the All Saints Church was built, it was already considered very prestigious. In subsequent years, many famous people were buried in this cemetery.
Soviet period
By the beginning of the 20th century, there were four churches in the Novo-Alekseevsky monastery: the Holy Cross Exaltation ( 1692 ), Alexy the Man of God ( 1853 ), the Church of All Saints and Archangel Michael at the hospital ( 1879 ). Of these, only two survived the Soviet period - the All Saints and Alekseevsky : in 1926 the Novo-Alekseevsky monastery was closed, and all the inhabitants were forced to leave it.
The building of the church of All Saints was used as an archive and as a production building. The oldest of the four - Holy Cross Church became part of the administrative building of VNIRO ( All-Russian Research Institute of Fisheries and Oceanography ). Alekseevsky temple was converted into a pioneer house, and a pioneer park was built on the site of the former monastery cemetery. In the 1970s , the church of Archangel Michael was demolished, and a residential house took its place. In the second half of the 1980s , a motorway was laid along the former cemetery, which is now part of the third transport ring .
Current State
In 1991, the All Saints Church was transferred to the Russian Orthodox Church . Since that time, restoration work has begun in the temple itself and in the adjacent former monastery territories. In 1990, a Slavic gymnasium was opened near the church (school No. 1305). Currently ( 2009 ) the chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God “ Fadeless Color ” has been completed on the temple’s territory, the whole territory is fenced with a new brick fence with beautiful gates.
At present, the temple houses the Alexey Tsesarevich almshouse with a house church named after him (opened in 1994 ), a Sunday school ( 1991 ), a parish school ( 1995 ), an icon workshop ( 1991 ), and the ARTOS Charitable Foundation ( 2002 ) , a church shop, an Orthodox store focused on the spiritual needs of the family - “Arina Rodionovna’s House”, “Sovereign” Children's Health Camp. Also, since 2005, the People’s Choir has been organized at the temple, everyone can take part in it. [3]
The rector of the church since its opening (March 30, 1991 ) is Archpriest Artemy Vladimirov .
Since 2013 , it has been the main church of the revived Novo-Alekseevsky monastery, which has become the Alekseevsky stauropegic convent .
