Oil water , oil field water - water accompanying oil in geological layers.
In accordance with the occurrence in the oil reservoir emit:
- upper waters confined to the upper (head) part of the oil reservoir;
- marginal waters located below the oil reservoir;
- plantar waters located at the bottom of a waterfowl pool;
- bound water enveloping the surface of the pores and saturating the smallest capillary channels in the oil reservoir.
There are also artificially introduced water injected to maintain pressure during the development of oil reservoirs.
The study of oil water is important in the search, exploration and development of oil fields. Often contain iodine , bromine , radium , strontium and other valuable elements in high amounts and serve as a source of their extraction.
