Biography
Bill Plympton was born on April 30, 1946 in Portland , Oregon, near Don and Wilda Plympton. From 1964 to 1968, he studied at Portland State University, where he was a member of the cinema society and worked on the release of the yearbook. In 1968 he transferred to the School of Visual Arts in New York .
Plimpton's illustrations and comics have been published in the New York Times , Vogue magazines, Rolling Stone and many other publications. His political comic strip series Plimpton, which he began in 1975 at Soho's Weekly News, was eventually sold to more than twenty publications for simultaneous publication. His outstanding style is easily recognizable.
For many years S. Baumein helped him to stroke and fill. By 2008, Plympton created 31 short and 4 full-length cartoons. He also published a comic book, Pimpton's Sloppy Comics. Usually Plympton first publishes a story in a graphic to collect money for a film release.
Together with other independent directors of New York, Plimpton has released two collections of short cartoon films Avoid Eye Contact. In 1992, his work appeared on Fox Channel - the comedy series “The Edge” (The Edge), as well as on the MTV channel in the late 80s. From 2001 to 2003, he and Don Hertsfeldt toured all over America with the Don and Bill Show program. In 2005, his film Guard Dog was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Animated Short Film. In the same year, Plympton made a clip for hip-hop singer Kanye West's "Heard 'Em Say". In 2006, Plympton shot a video for “Weird Al” Yankovic “Don't Download This Song”.
And earlier, in 1990, he made a clip for Peter Himmelman - “245 Days”, which served as the basis for the Faded Roads short film, or vice versa ...? In 2008, in the clip Parson Brown "Mexican Standoff (Falling Into You)" animated parts belong to the pen of Bill. Actress Martha Plympton, “my distant relative” (as Bill Plympton calls her), was co-producer of the film “Hair High” and was involved in casting. Among those who voiced the film was her father Keith Carradine and her uncle David Carradine .
In 2008, the 80-minute film Idiots and Angels was released. It uses music by Tom Waits , Mobi and Pink Martini bands. Much more gloomy and mystical than previous work.
