General Information
An elite professional women's tour was created in Denmark on the eve of the 2008 season: in the wake of the growing results of the strongest Danish tennis player of that time, Caroline Wozniacki organized a prize in her hometown of Odense . The first tournament was included in the ITF tour calendar, having the maximum prize pool of $ 100 thousand by its standards. The co-organizer of the tournament was the management of the tennis player.
The first competition was successful, but in 2009, the organizers decided to change the arena, transferring the tournament to the Farum Arena complex in the town of Farum , on the outskirts of Copenhagen . Due to organizational problems, the 2009 tournament was canceled at the last moment, but a year later the first Farum prize was still held, moreover, we managed to find sufficient funding and buy out a WTA tournament license for the competition.
Due to the peculiarities of the WTA calendar of that time, there was no good period for holding an indoor tournament and the competition changed its time every year - playing before the US Open Series , now between the clay and grass season, then before the clay season. This fact had a bad effect on the composition of the tournament and Wozniacki had few real rivals in the fight for a single title. The result of this development of events was the regular finals of Caroline at the home tournament, three of the four Danes ended with victories.
In 2012, due to the crisis in Wozniacki’s results, the tournament gradually lost its popularity among spectators and the Danish Federation refused to hold it. The released license was bought by investors from the Polish Katowice .
