Biography
Carl von Fischer began to study architecture in 1796 , then studied architecture for three years in Vienna . In 1808 he became a professor of architecture, the first professor of architecture at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts . The vast majority (namely 36) of Fisher's buildings were destroyed as a result of bombing during the Second World War . The house of Fisher himself was destroyed by the Nazis for the construction of the “Temple of Glory” of the NSDAP in its place.
Among the surviving works of Karl von Fischer is the building of the Munich National Theater , also located in Munich, the palace of Prince Karl and the hospital at the Sendling Gate .
Carl von Fischer died of lung cancer caused by tuberculosis and was buried in the Old Southern Cemetery of Munich.
