Geography

Located 200 km southeast of Voronezh. Railway station Gribanovka on the line " Povorino - Gryazi ". The A144 “ Kursk – Voronezh – Saratov ” highway passes through the village.

Climate

The climate of Gribanovsky is temperate continental, with cold, long winters and hot, arid summers with a large daily temperature.

History

It was founded in 1703 as the village of Bolshaya Gribanovka as part of the Tambov district [2] . The name of the village was given by Peter I in honor of the Griban River, the river was navigable, at the moment it has become shallow and dried up, leaving behind a network of ravines and ponds.

In 1898, a stone church of the Epiphany of the Lord was built in Gribanovsky, preserved to this day. [3]

The status of an urban-type settlement has been since 1957.

The Hero of the Soviet Union P.N. Kononykhin was born in the village.
