History
Origin
Galactus was once a humanoid named Galan from the planet Taa, whose civilization was the most developed in the universe that preceded ours. This universe arose and developed in accordance with the theory of the "Big Bang" and just in the time of Galan's life was going through a period of contraction. Taa remained one of the last living planets. Galan was a space explorer and went on an expedition to find a means of saving his planet, but his search was unsuccessful. In the end, almost all life in the universe was destroyed by radiation. Several Taa residents survived, but their death was inevitable. Galan offered them a "beautiful death" - to fly in a spaceship directly to the center of a shrinking Universe - to the "Space Egg". When the ship reached its destination, everyone died, except Galan, who suddenly found himself filled with new energy. The consciousness of a dying universe came into contact with him, informing him that he would die, but be reborn and become Galactus - the world-eater. After that, Galan was consumed by the Cosmic Egg. [3]
How much time has passed since then is unknown, but once the Cosmic Egg underwent a new “Big Bang”. Thus, the present Universe was formed, Eternity and Infinity were born, and the renewed Galan - already Galactus - broke free (since then he calls Eternity and Infinity his brother and sister).
Ascent
For millennia, Galactus wandered the universe until it was discovered by one of the Observers , an ancient race of beings who observe events in the universe. The observer learned that Galactus was extremely powerful and would soon begin to destroy the worlds in order to saturate his hunger. Understanding how dangerous Galactus was, the Observer wanted to destroy it before it was too late, but decided to observe the vow of non-interference given by his people.
Over time, Galactus learned to control his power, created an armored suit and turned his ship into a kind of incubator, in which he spent centuries. In the end, the ship appeared in the orbit of the inhabited planet Archeopia, and the tranquility of Galactus was disrupted by a flotilla of space pirates. He woke up, destroyed his enemies and destroyed Archeopia. In this corner of the Universe, he created his home under the name Taa II and sought out planets rich in the energy he needed. At first, he only ate planets whose life was unreasonable. However, over time, more and more energy was required, the intervals between "meals" decreased and Galactus was forced to destroy the planets inhabited by intelligent creatures. At first, this caused him some moral torment, but Galactus quickly overcame his inappropriate pity, because he believed that he was destined to fulfill some unknown mission, which would become the payment of the Universe for all the destruction caused to him.
Silver Surfer and Arrival on Earth
When Galactus wanted to destroy the planet Zenn-La, inhabited by intelligent creatures, one of its inhabitants, Norrin Rudd, persuaded Galactus to spare his homeland and offered to become his messenger - to travel the universe in search of suitable planet hosts for food. Galactus agreed and turned Norrin into the Silver Surfer . For some time, Surfer served Galactus, but rebelled when he wanted to absorb the energy-rich Earth. Earth superhero Reed Richards threatened Galactus with the worst weapon in the universe - the Absolute Nullifier, and Galactus vowed not to touch the Earth. However, he did not fulfill his oath too honestly, several times trying to return to Earth, but he was always disturbed by various superheroes, including the X-Men and the Ghost Rider . At the same time, it swallowed up other inhabited planets and became known as almost the main thunderstorm of any rational race. Since the Silver Surfer left him, Galactus took new messengers. [four]
Galactus made his last attempt to eat the Earth after a long break in food. He was so weak that terrestrial superheroes easily defeated an alien. However, Reed Richards did not allow to finish off the defeated enemy, and the grateful Galactus sincerely swore once again that he would not return to Earth. Then he recruited another messenger on Earth - Nova . However, Nova eventually turned out to be a traitor and rebelled against Galactus, who killed Nova with the hands of an alien named Morgue.
The death of Galactus and the advent of Abraxas
Over time, Galactus' appetite increased so much that only the energy of intelligent life could satisfy his hunger. He devoured everything that fell in the way and in the end he again tried to devour the Earth and was again defeated by superheroes, namely, the Silver Surfer. Surfer agreed to become the messenger of Galactus again and treacherously brought him to the Shi'Ar empire. Surfer knew that this intelligent race was perhaps the most technologically advanced in the universe and hoped that Galactus would receive a fitting rebuff. He was not mistaken: the Shi'Ar combined with other superheroes of the Earth and the Universe and destroyed Galactus. [five]
However, it was too early to rejoice: the death of Galactus brought into the world of Abraxas , an omnipotent creature, the embodiment of destruction. Abraxas set off on a journey through parallel realities, destroying the Galactus there, bowed Nova from a parallel world, attacked Uatu, the Earth Observer, and with the help of his Nova seduced the Fantastic Four to go in search of the Absolute nullifier, the keys to whose whereabouts were in different worlds. When the Nulifier was found, Abraxas deceived him and began to threaten to destroy the Universe. But Franklin Richards , son of Reed and Sue , used his ability to change reality and resurrected Galactus, who took the Scrap from Abraxas and gave it to Reed Richards. Reed destroyed Abraxas, and the result of the use of the Nullifier was the birth of a new reality in which Abraxas never existed, and all the worlds and dead creatures that he destroyed were resurrected, including many Galactus, whose mission, as it turned out, was to restrain Abraxas and if necessary, give him a rebuff. [6]
Appearance
Humanoid in purple-purple armor. It differs from ordinary people in size : its height is 280 feet 9 inches (~ 85 meters). When Galactus is hungry, its growth decreases. However, although earthlings see Galactus as a man, this does not mean at all that such is his true appearance, because, for example, the Skrulls see him as their own kind, as well as representatives of other intelligent races. The nature of this influence of Galactus on perception is unknown.
Strengths and Abilities
Able to manipulate energy and matter and absorb energy almost unlimitedly. It absorbs the energy of the planets, as well as from a variety of sources (once he absorbed all the energy of Ultron by touch). Galactus can use energy to transform and restructure matter [7] [8] [9] , change its own size [10] , projection of energy of incredibly destructive force [11] , create impenetrable force fields [7] , create portals as inside one dimension [ 12] and interdimensional [13] , teleportation of objects [10] through space [14] and time [15] , telepathy [16] , telekinesis [17] pyrokinesis [18] . His messengers, possessing only a small fraction of the power of their overlord, are able to control energy and matter with inhuman power.
Equipment
- Galactus uses the huge Taa II ship to travel from star to star in the search for planets to satisfy his endless hunger, as teleportation and interstellar portals take up too much energy.
- The suit of Galactus helps him stabilize internal energy, without a suit for a long period of time, energy could break free and turn him into a star.
- An elementary transformer transforms matter into energy. Although Galactus can do without it, the transformer transforms matter into energy better.
- Absolute nullifier - an incredible power weapon created by Galan, it is part of himself. Absolute nullifier - can erase universes, objects and any creature in the multiverse from reality, with the exception of the Living Tribunal .
- The Punisher is the creation of Galactus, intended for battles with those enemies whom the World Eater considers too insignificant to "deal" with them personally.
Heralds of Galactus
Messengers, or heralds, are used by Galactus to search for planets suitable for absorption. In addition, sometimes messengers help their master in battle. Galactus gives them part of their cosmic energy, which gives them great abilities.
