The Angara-Vitim (synonym - Barguzinsky) granitoid batholith located in Transbaikalia is one of the largest batholiths of Central Asia . In the modern erosion section, it is a community of multiphase plutons and small arrays , ranging in size from 10 to 3400 km². The composition of granitoids varies from monzonites , quartz monzonites and granodiorites of the early phase, to biotite granites and late phase leucogranites . Currently, two magmatic complexes are distinguished within the batholith — Barguzinsky and Zazinsky.
The age of batholith is currently considered to be Late Carboniferous .
Most researchers attribute the origin of batholith to the melting of metamorphic rocks of the upper crust due to heating by the mantle plume .
