Philip of Opunta , also known as Philip of Mendea (mid IV BC) - an ancient Greek philosopher, astronomer and mathematician, a student of Plato , a member of the Platonic Academy . Editor of the Laws of Plato and the probable author of the After-Law . Philip is also known as a practicing astronomer, who himself made observations and was involved in compiling a calendar. A number of his pending works are listed by the Courts . These are books On the gods , On time , On myths , On freedom , On anger , On polygonal numbers , On arithmetic , etc. Like other students of Plato ( Speusippus , Xenocrates , Hermodor), Philip wrote the work “ On Plato ”. The names of works that have not survived speak of his interest in ethical issues (“On Pleasure”, “On Love”, “On Friends and Friendship”, “On Anger”, “On Freedom”, “On Retribution”). According to Stephen of Byzantium , Philip had an essay on the winds.
