Omethides ( lat. Omethidae ) - a family of beetles from the infraorder Elateriformia . Small insects 3-12 mm long with a soft, slightly sclerotized cuticle [1] . The general color varies from brown to black; in many species, the head is colored yellow or red or covered with spots of these colors [1] . Larvae are not described [1] .

There are 33 species in the family, which are combined into 8 genera and three subfamilies [1] [2] . Representatives of the genus Drilonius (about 20 species) and Omethes rugiceps are described from the Far East (from Japan to Indonesia), the rest are common in North America [1] .
