Geography
Located on the eastern edge of the Priobsky Plateau , on the left bank of the Alei River (left tributary of the Ob River ) at the confluence of the Goryovka River, 125 km south-west of Barnaul on the A322 federal highway Barnaul - Rubtsovsk - border with the Republic of Kazakhstan . Turksib passes through the city.
History
The lands along the banks of the Alei River were ceded to Russia in the 17th century . In 1913, a settlement was founded at the Aleyskaya railway station on the Turkestan-Siberian railway under construction , north-west of the village of Malopanyusheva (now within the city). In 1926 - 1938 - Aleisk urban-type settlement .
In January 1939, the decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the RSFSR was granted city status . The growth of Aleisk was promoted by the development of the food and processing industries [4] .
Climate
The climate is moderately cold, according to the Köppen climate classification - a humid continental climate (Dfb index) with uniform humidification and warm summer. Significant rainfall, even in dry months, often rain. Winter is cold and long. The coldest month is January with an average temperature of -15 ° C. The warmest month is July with an average temperature of +20 ° C. Annual precipitation: 478 mm.

Economy
Aleisk, located among large agricultural areas, is the center of the processing industry. There is a full cycle of agricultural processing. The largest enterprise is CJSC Aleiskzernoprodukt named after S. N. Starovoitov, engaged in flour-and-cereals production, production of vegetable oil and mixed fodders.
Other large enterprises of the city:
- OJSC Aleysky Meat-Processing Plant - production of meat products [20] ;
- JSC "Aleisky Dairy Factory" - the production of dairy products and cheese.
- JSC Aleyskaya PMK OJSC "BVS" - production of concrete products for use in construction [21] .
Transportation
Aleiskaya - the station of the Altai region of the West-Siberian railway , located on Turksib . Through the city passes the federal highway A322 Barnaul - Rubtsovsk - the border with the Republic of Kazakhstan, which is part of the Asian route AH64 Petropavlovsk - Barnaul . Public transport is represented by buses and minibuses. From the bus station buses go to Barnaul , Rubtsovsk , Mikhaylovka , Petrovka , Shadrino.
