Costa Rica at the Olympics

Costa Rica first participated in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin , after which, having missed the Games in London , Helsinki , Melbourne and Rome , she returned to the Olympic family only in 1964 in Tokyo . Since then, Costa Rica has not missed a single summer Olympics. Costa Rica has been intermittently participating in the Winter Olympics since the Lake Placid Games in 1980 .

During the performance at the Olympic Games, Costa Rican athletes won 4 Olympic medals : 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze. All medals were won at the Summer Olympics in swimming competitions .

The Costa Rican NOC was established in 1953 and recognized by the IOC in 1954 .
