Biography
Berta inherited from the father of the county of Ruerg and Kersey . Gothia passed to the older branch of the Toulouse house even under the father of Berta Hugo, although she titled herself the Marquise of Gothic . Her co-ruler in Gothia was Pons of Toulouse . However, in 1060 he died, and his descendants never used this title, and Berta became the sole ruler of Gothia.
Berthe was married to Earl of Auvergne Robert II . Their marriage was childless.
Berthe was the last independent Countess of Ruerg and Kersey. Marquis Gothia after her death ceased to exist. Even after the death of Hugo, the father of Bert, the county of Ruerg lost its suzerainty over the neighboring Viscountries and counties ( Narbonne , Albi , Nimes , Beziers , Uzes , Agde ), which all went to the counts of Toulouse , and after the death of Berta between 1063 and 1066 they (including Ruerg and Kersey ) went on to Count of Toulouse Guillaume IV .
