Biography
Born September 22, 1957 in Kherson, Ukrainian SSR [1] . In 1980, he graduated with honors and a gold medal from the Military Medical Academy . In 1980-1983 , he was the head of the ship’s medical service. From 1985 to 1987 he served in the Democratic Republic of Afghanistan , first as a leading surgeon in a separate medical company in Jalalabad , and then in a separate medical battalion in Bagram . In 1987 he entered the postgraduate studies at the Military Medical Academy and in 1990 defended his thesis . From 1990 to 1998, he worked as a teacher at the Department of Naval and General Surgery of the Military Medical Academy. In 1998 he defended his doctoral dissertation. Since 1998, he is director of the Research Institute of Emergency Medicine. I. I. Dzhanelidze - a large multidisciplinary medical scientific and medical center of St. Petersburg . Head of the Department of Surgery for Damage, St. Petersburg Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education since 2000 . Head surgeon of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection in the Northwestern Federal District since 2004 . In 2008, he was appointed the National Coordinator for the Prevention of Accidental Injuries of the WHO Regional Office for Europe and the Chief Specialist in Emergency Medicine of the Ministry of Health and Social Development of Russia .
Areas of research and practice: damage surgery, abdominal and transplant surgery, diseases of the liver, pancreas, gastrointestinal tract, oncology issues.
The author of 300 scientific works, 11 monographs, 5 patents for invention, discoveries. Under his leadership, 4 doctoral and 12 master's theses were defended.
