Theater History
The first performance at the Astrakhan Theater of Young Spectators took place on March 11, 1933 . It was the play “The Way Far” based on the play by N. Ya. Shestakov . Then the theater did not yet have its own building and the performance took place on the stage of the Club of Trade Workers on ul. Belogorodskaya (now Lenin Street). The troupe of the theater at that time was unprofessional, it consisted of participants in amateur performances and employees of the radio committee.
A year later, the troupe of the theater was replenished with professional actors, M.D. Lyubimova became the art director of the theater for young spectators. Then the Youth Theater was given premises on 16 Chalabyan Street.
On September 19, 1934, the first season of the already professional theater for children opened with the play based on the play by N. V. Gogol “The Examiner ”.
The director of the theater from 1993 to 2015 was the Honored Worker of Culture of the Russian Federation Viktor Yakovlevich Butenko , from November 23, 2015 to September 27, 2018, the new director of the Astrakhan Youth Theater - Povalyaeva Svetlana Vasilyevna, was appointed from September 28, 2018, Inna Moskvina was appointed director. For many years, the artistic director of the theater was the People's Artist of the Russian Federation Yuri Kochetkov [1] . Since June 30, 2017, Sergei Taraskin, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, became the artistic director of the Astrakhan Youth Theater [2] .
