History

Before the October Revolution Pyatnitsky was a village. It was named after the church of Holy Friday (Paraskeva) that existed here.

In 1889, V.N. Shabelskaya (after Shidlovskaya’s husband), near the village, the female Nikolo-Tikhvin community was founded, which in 1899 was transformed into the female St. Nicholas Tikhvin monastery . There was a shelter at the monastery, a strange house, an almshouse and a school. After the revolution, the monastery was abolished and was no longer renewed (now a boarding school operates on its territory).

Pyatnitskoe received the status of an urban-type settlement in 1971 .
